Abel Simão Amaro

Abel Amaro is widely regarded as a leading Brazilian tax lawyer, with extensive experience in tax planning, tax advisory and strategic tax litigation. Over several decades of practice, he has advised domestic and multinational companies on complex tax matters, including the structuring of business operations and the defense of corporate interests in high-profile tax disputes.

Before joining the firm, Abel served as partner and regional coordinator of the tax practice at leading Brazilian law firms of national and international standing, including Veirano Advogados (2003–2025), Amaro Stuber Advogados (1992–2003), Mattos Filho & Suchodolski Advogados (1990–1992) and Arthur Andersen (1984–1989), building a distinguished career in strategic tax planning and major tax controversy matters.

He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Economic Law from the University of São Paulo School of Law (USP), and has completed further specialization programs in tax law in the United States and Spain.

Abel Amaro is consistently recognized among the most admired tax lawyers in Brazil by leading legal rankings and publications, including Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Análise Advocacia.

He currently serves as Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of Tax Consultants (ABCT).
